vibedonalds

What it does

Vibedonalds is a directory for vibe-coded software. Every entry is a real tool page with pricing tiers, platform support, highlights, and a list of genuine alternatives — plus a glossary that explains the terms (tokens, context windows, agentic loops) that the category keeps assuming you already know.

Why

Most "AI tool directory" sites are affiliate dumps with a scraped description and a signup link. The listings go stale within weeks and the pricing is usually wrong. The goal here was the opposite: fewer tools, each one actually checked, with pricing that reflects what the vendor charges today and alternatives that a person would genuinely consider instead.

How it was built

Next.js with a file-based content layer, so each tool and glossary entry is a reviewable diff rather than a database row. The bulk of the code — schema design, the alternatives-ranking logic, the OG card generation, and the glossary cross-linking — was written in collaboration with Claude in an agentic loop: describe the behaviour, let it draft, review the diff, iterate. The interesting part was that the AI was better at the boring correctness work (normalising pricing shapes across ~40 vendors who all express tiers differently) than at the design judgment, which stayed human.
